CBD: the Good, the Bad & the Ugly

CBD: the Good, the Bad & the Ugly

Cannabidiol (CBD) is one of approximately 400 therapeutic compounds found in the cannabis plant. CBD is extremely popular, but often misunderstood. MIS-information about CBD abounds! Let’s take a look at the FACTS:

The Cannabis family includes both hemp and marijuana. Marijuana contains a much higher percentage of THC, a psychoactive compound that can make you “high.” By law, hemp can only contain up to 0.3% THC (3 parts per 1,000). HempSMART’s CBD based products are all derived from premium hemp. NOTE: HempSMART removes ALL residual THC from our products. There is NO concern about clouding your mental acuity or failing a drug test.

CBD may be labeled as CBD Isolate, BROAD Spectrum CBD, or FULL Spectrum CBD. What does that mean, in terms of its therapeutic potential?

~ CBD Isolate contains ONLY the CBD molecule. That single molecule is extracted from approximately 400 therapeutic compounds naturally found in cannabis. It has some therapeutic effects, but only a small fraction of the entire plant’s potential benefits. This is the least expensive way to produce a CBD product.

~ Broad Spectrum CBD products contain some additional compounds in addition to the single CBD molecule. Some components, such as other cannabinoids, terpenes or flavonoids, are added to the CBD in varying amounts. Broad Spectrum formulas may contain 5 or 15 or 50 distinct molecules. There is no standard for composition.

~ Full Spectrum CBD contains all of the naturally occurring therapeutic compounds found in the plant in the naturally occurring amounts. NOTE: HempSMART uses the FULL SPECTRUM of therapeutic compounds that Mother Nature put in the hemp plant, in the amounts that occur naturally. We selectively remove ONLY the THC molecule, leaving the integrity of the remaining molecules intact. We are best categorized as Full Spectrum with selective removal of THC. We preserve the “Entourage Effect” (the synergistic effect of the naturally occurring spectrum of cannabinoids, terpenes, terpenoids & flavonoids) while eliminating the risk of “getting high” or failing a drug test.

In addition to knowing what is IN your CBD products, it is essential to know what is NOT in them! Any good quality product will provide Certificates of Analysis (COA) by a certified independent lab. You should be able to see proof of testing for THC, heavy metals, herbicides, pesticides, bacteria, mold, and solvents. Every batch of every product should be tested, with COA’s available.

Pure, premium, full spectrum CBD supports the body’s Endocannabinoid System to:
~ balance hormones (sex hormones, thyroid hormones, stress hormones)
~ balance brain chemistry (learning, focus, memory, concentration, mood, sleep)
~ support healthy cellular function and cell reproduction (true Wellness)
